We have all grown up playing superheros, reading comics, and wishing that superheroes were real. But thanks to Marvel we can now pop in a disc and watch them battle and defeat the bad guy! Though Marvel has been making comics since 1939 just in the past 10 years or so have they gone way beyond anyone's expectation for bringing these loved characters to life in the movies.
We all know that everyone is excited about the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Avengers: Endgame is Supposed to be an end and a beginning for many characters. Many people are expecting a few characters to die, saying they need boxes of kleenexes to be able to finish this movie.
Marvel's value proposition it be deliver quality content that only exceeds expectations of the customer.
Recently Marvel had announced they will be having T.V. series on Disney+. There a few mixed feelings about this. One is hope that the shows that were cancelled on Netflix will be taken back up. Though some are not too keen on how the new shows that have been announced will work well. I think that Marvel had made the smart move by continuing making series of some of our favorite characters. This also almost guarantees that the Disney+ streaming site will be used, because who can not resist superheroes.
Of course everyone is very excited about Avengers: Endgame coming out is just a couple of weeks. There is just a lot of speculations and a lot of excitement about anything that will go one in this movie. Marvel has hyped this movie as much as any company can and I couldn't agree more with their strategies, having sold five times more tickets that Avengers: Infinity War.
One of Marvel's latest movies did take some backlash for the casting of the main character. In Captain Marvel Many people did not like the casting for that character, some even boycotting that one movie because of her. I think that did not affect the outcome of the movie, many people did go and watch it in theaters, me included.Marvel is a big company now, they not only sell the movies but still sell comics.
This company has to rely a lot on marketing. If you do not have it then no one knows about the movie. Marvel is lucky when they started out that they had a fan base that know the comics which helped when they did start to make these movies. Part that really is stressed for everyone is that there is no spoilers for Endgame. That in itself makes people wonder, and get excited for what it to come if they are being this secretive. It is a great strategy if done right. But putting out trailers and new posters do help get everyone excited about the new movie. I don't think Marvel has too much of a challenge with their marketing, I only think that their competitor DC Comics could interfere but they do not have any movie going on now, lucky for them.
If I was the brand manager then I would have a hell of a time trying to market a thing that is so secretive. That is just the movie aspect though, it would be hard to figure out how much to give to customers, and how much to hold back but still giving enough to keep them interested. I would give customers what they want but not all they want.
I learned that is some companies marketing can be several aspects that all have to be intertwined so that one thing does not give away another, or that one thing that needs to be up front while others need to be more behind the scenes.

ReplyDeleteIt is a delicate balance. You want to have some mystery and not spoil the ending, but you also want to entice a viewer. I wonder if all the marvel universe movies leading up to Endgame was all a part of their strategy?
